Philippa Busuttil, proudly representing Malta 🇲🇹, competed in the Women’s Qualification and Team Final at the Commonwealth Games, delivering an excellent performance across all four apparatus.
Her Balance Beam and Floor routines were particularly outstanding, with her beam exercise receiving exceptional praise from the commentators. They described it as “the highest quality they have seen all day,” calling it “sensational on beam” and highlighting “some very well executed gymnastics from this gymnast.” They also remarked that she is “stepping it up for Malta,” recognising the impressive standard she brought to the competition.
Her outstanding performances earned her qualification for both the All-Around Final and the Balance Beam Final, making history as the first Maltese gymnast ever to qualify for Commonwealth Games finals.
A special mention goes to her personal coach in Bergamo, Massimo Gallina, whose dedication has played a key role in her journey, as well as to Coach Niamh, who is accompanying and supporting Philippa throughout this competition.
GFA - GYMNASTICS FOR ALL!
This year’s GymFest took place on the 7th of June, where all our levels performed routines put together by their coaches. It was a great chance to showcase their hard work in front of friends and family. From start to finish, the atmosphere was full of smiles, cheers, and unforgettable memories!
Philippa Busuttil
Philippa Busuttil has built an exceptional gymnastics career marked by consistent national dominance and historic international milestones. She claimed the National Junior Champion title in 2021 and 2022, before continuing her reign as National Champion from 2024 through 2025. Internationally, she made history multiple times—winning all-around gold at COJi 2022, securing several apparatus medals, and reaching beam finals at prestigious events like the World Challenge Cup in Hungary, the Trofeo Città di Jesolo, and the 2026 World Cup in Baku, where she placed 7th. Her achievements also include a team gold and all-around bronze at the GSSE 2025, along with strong performances at COMEGYM and the Junior European Championships, establishing her as one of Malta’s most accomplished gymnasts.

Our beloved founder, the late Mr. Albert Chun (1961–2018), dedicated over 30 years of his life to coaching in Malta, Hong Kong, China, and the USA. As a former President of the Malta Federation of Gymnastics and National Artistic Gymnastics Team coach, he left an indelible mark on the sport.
To countless children and families, Mr. Chun was more than a coach—he was a mentor, a role model, and a source of kindness and encouragement. With his ever-present smile and endless patience, he shaped not only world-class athletes but also resilient, compassionate individuals.
His legacy lives on in the hearts of thousands of Maltese pupils whose lives he touched. His wisdom continues to guide those who had the privilege to learn from him, and his extraordinary contribution to gymnastics in Malta will be cherished forever.
To our dearest Mr. Chun,
We love you, we miss you, and we carry you with us every single day. Though you may no longer be here in person, your spirit, your smile, and your wisdom live on in our hearts and in everything we do. You will never be forgotten.
